Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner

The GrowerIQ Mobile Scanner puts seed-to-sale tracking in your hand. Instead of walking back to a computer, your team scans an inventory tag and records the action right where the work happens. It runs on just about any Android device, whether that is a warehouse phone, a tablet, or a Zebra handheld scanner. This guide walks you through installing the app, signing in, and finding your way around for the first time. In this article: - What the Mobile Scanner Does - What You Can Do With It - Before You Begin - Install the App - Keep the App Updated - Sign In for the First Time - Your First Scan - Troubleshooting - What's Next ๐ŸŽฏ What the Mobile Scanner Does The Mobile Scanner is a companion app to GrowerIQ that runs on an Android device. It mirrors the actions you already perform in GrowerIQ on the web, but lets you do them on the floor, in the room, next to the plants. - Scan, then act - scan a batch, lot, or vessel tag and pick an action from the screen - Stay where the work is - no round trips to a shared computer - Use the devices you already have - phones, tablets, or Zebra handheld scanners - Capture weights live - connect a networked scale and let readings fill in automatically - Work in your language - English, French, Portuguese, and more, with new languages added regularly !!! info "Two ways to scan, chosen automatically" On a device with a built-in scanner, such as a Zebra handheld, you scan by pulling the trigger. On a phone or tablet, the app scans with the camera. The app detects which one your device has, so there is nothing to set up. โœจ What You Can Do With It Once you scan an item, the scanner shows only the actions that make sense for it. At a high level, your team can: | Area | Examples | |------|----------| | Move and organize inventory | Move locations, split batches, rename items | | Cultivation tasks | Advance stages, prune, flush, log fertigation, add pesticides, scout for insects, record metrics | | Weigh and sample | Record weights, take samples, send material to a processor | | Weigh in batches | Weigh several bags or containers and sum them into one total | | Print labels | Print a label for the scanned item on a connected Zebra printer | !!! info "Most actions are self-explanatory" Each action opens a short form that walks you through it. The articles in this section focus on setup and the features that are unique to the scanner, like live scale weights and batch weighing. โœ… Before You Begin Make sure you have: | You need | Details | |----------|---------| | An Android device | A phone, tablet, or Zebra handheld scanner. Phones and tablets scan with the camera; Zebra handhelds use the built-in scanner. | | Your GrowerIQ login | The same email and password you use for GrowerIQ on the web. | | The install QR code | Provided by GrowerIQ. The QR code below always installs the latest version. | | Scanner access on your role | A GrowerIQ administrator must enable scanner access for your user role. Without it, you will see an "Access Denied" message after logging in. | ๐Ÿ“ฒ Install the App The app installs from a file you download through the device's browser, rather than from an app store. 1. On the device, scan the QR code below: - Phone or tablet: open the Camera app, point it at the QR code, and tap the link that appears. - Zebra handheld: open Chrome, tap the address bar so the cursor is active, scan the QR code with the trigger, then press Go. 2. Your browser opens the GrowerIQ download page. Tap Download. 3. When the download finishes, tap the file (or the download notification) to open it. 4. If the device asks, allow installs from this source, then tap Install. 5. Tap Open to launch GrowerIQ. Cannot scan the code? Open this link in your device's browser instead: drive.google.com/file/d/1A4qlczKKPRnOpsLei56YRBSm093pZ-Mc/view !!! tip "One QR code for every update" The download link never changes, so the same QR code always installs the newest version. Keep it posted near your devices and use it again whenever an update is released. !!! note "Installing from a file is normal" Installing directly from a file (sometimes called sideloading) is expected when an app is delivered outside of an app store. You are not missing anything. ๐Ÿ”„ Keep the App Updated When GrowerIQ releases a new version, you do not need a new link. Because the QR code always points to the latest build: 1. Scan the same QR code again - with the camera on a phone or tablet, or through the Chrome address bar on a Zebra handheld. 2. Download and open the file as you did during installation. 3. Tap Update (or Install) to replace the old version. Your data and login are not affected. ๐Ÿ”‘ Sign In for the First Time When you open the app: 1. Choose your site - start typing your organization name. The app checks it as you type and shows a green check with your organization name once it matches. If it is close, it suggests a correction ("Did you mean ...?"); if it cannot find a match, it shows "Organization not found." Once your organization is confirmed, tap Continue. 2. Enter your email and password - the same credentials you use for GrowerIQ on the web. 3. Tap Log In. If you belong to more than one organization, you will be asked to pick which one to work in after you log in. !!! tip "Scan your badge to sign in faster (Zebra handhelds)" On a Zebra handheld, tap the email field on the login screen and scan a badge that contains your email address. The scanner fills your email in for you, so you only type your password. Need badges? The GrowerIQ Customer Success team can load a standard badge template into your system, or you can design your own, for example with the AI Label Builder. The badge simply needs to hold the user's email address. For the complete walkthrough, see Logging In and Choosing Your Organization. ๐Ÿงญ Your First Scan Once you are signed in, the rhythm of the app is always the same: 1. Scan a tag - pull the trigger on a Zebra handheld, or point your phone or tablet camera at the inventory label. 2. Review the detail screen - the item opens, showing its details and the actions available for it. 3. Tap an action - choose what to do, fill in the short form, and submit. That is the whole app: scan, tap, confirm. !!! note "Allow camera access" The first time you scan on a phone or tablet, allow camera access when your device asks. Zebra handhelds with a built-in scanner do not need this. ๐Ÿ”ง Troubleshooting The QR code will not scan, or the link will not open? On a phone or tablet, make sure the Camera app can read QR codes, or type the download link into your browser by hand. On a Zebra handheld, tap the Chrome address bar first so the cursor is active, then scan again. The downloaded file will not open or install? Open it again from your browser's downloads, and allow installs from this source if the device asks. The camera will not scan a tag? Make sure you allowed camera access, then hold the label steady inside the frame. Tap the flashlight icon if the label is hard to read. You see an "Access Denied" message after logging in? Your user role needs scanner permissions. Ask your GrowerIQ administrator to enable scanner access for your role. Still stuck? See Troubleshooting the Mobile Scanner or contact GrowerIQ support. โžก๏ธ What's Next Now that the scanner is installed, explore the rest of this section: - Logging In and Choosing Your Organization - sites, switching organizations, and the badge-scan shortcut - Switching Languages on the Mobile Scanner - work in English, French, Portuguese, and more - Weighing in Batches - weigh multiple bags and sum them into one total - Connecting a Scale for Live Weights - auto-fill weights from a networked scale - Printing Labels from the Scanner - print to a connected Zebra printer - Troubleshooting the Mobile Scanner - fixes for common issues

Logging In and Choosing Your Organization

Signing in to the GrowerIQ Mobile Scanner takes two quick steps: choose your site, then enter your email and password. This guide also covers resetting a forgotten password, the short pause after a wrong password, and how to pick or switch organizations. In this article: - Choose your site - Enter your email and password - Scan your badge to fill your email (Zebra handhelds) - Forgot your password - Why login pauses after a wrong password - Pick your organization after login - Switch organizations later - Spotting a test site ๐Ÿข Choose your site The first screen has a single box. Type your organization name (or short name) into it. As you type, the app checks the name for you: | What you see | What it means | | --- | --- | | A green check mark with your organization's name | Found it. You can continue. | | An amber "did you mean" with a suggested name | It matched a close spelling and filled in that organization. Check the name shown is yours, then tap Continue. | | A red "not found" message | Check the spelling and try again. | Small typos are usually fine. Spaces, dashes, dots, and capital letters don't matter, so the app still finds you. The Continue button stays greyed out until the app recognizes a valid site. Once your organization name appears (a green check, or an amber match with the name shown), tap Continue to move to the password screen. Good news: the app remembers your site. Next time you open the scanner, it jumps you straight to the password screen for the same organization. !!! tip "Let the app remember your site" After your first sign-in, the scanner takes you straight to the password screen for the same organization. To use a different site, tap the green organization badge on the login screen (look for the small pencil icon on the right edge of the badge). ๐Ÿ”‘ Enter your email and password On the login screen, first check the green organization badge near the top. It shows the site you're signing in to. If it's wrong, tap the badge (the small pencil icon on the right is your cue that it's tappable) to go back and choose a different site. Then: 1. Type your work email. The email box is not case sensitive, so capital letters don't matter. 2. Type your password. 3. Tap Log In. If your email or password is missing, or the email looks misspelled, a short message appears in red so you can fix it before trying again. The Forgot password? link sits just below the Log In button. ๐Ÿ“ท Scan your badge to fill your email (Zebra handhelds) The email box has a small barcode icon. On a Zebra handheld scanner, you can use the hardware trigger to fill in your email instead of typing it. Point the handheld at a badge that holds your email, then pull the trigger. The scanner fills in your email and jumps the cursor to the password field, so all you do is type your password. Tapping the small barcode icon in the email box just shows a short reminder to scan your badge; it does not start a scan by itself. On a Zebra handheld, the scan is started by pulling the hardware trigger. On phones and tablets there is no badge scan, so type your email instead. For more on how the scanner picks the camera or the hardware trigger automatically, see Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner. !!! info "The badge shortcut is for Zebra handhelds only" Tapping the barcode icon only shows a reminder. On a Zebra handheld, pulling the trigger on a badge that holds your email fills it in and moves to the password field. On phones and tablets, type your email. ๐Ÿ” Forgot your password Tap Forgot password? on the login screen. The next screen opens with your email already filled in. 1. Confirm your email is correct. 2. Tap Send Reset Link. 3. Watch for the confirmation that says to check your email for reset instructions. 4. Open your inbox (check spam too), follow the link, and set a new password. 5. Come back to the scanner and log in. !!! tip "If the reset email is slow or the link won't work" The reset email usually arrives shortly; if you do not see it, check your spam folder. Reset links expire and can only be used once, so if the link no longer works by the time you open it, just tap Forgot password? again to send a fresh one. If something goes wrong, you'll see an error with options to go back to login or try again. Resets are self-service, so you don't have to wait on anyone to get back in. โฑ๏ธ Why login pauses after a wrong password After a wrong password, the Log In button greys out for a few seconds. Each further wrong try makes the wait a little longer (about 1, then 2, 5, 10, and 15 seconds). This is a safety feature, not a permanent lockout. A correct password clears the wait right away. If you're unsure of your password, use Forgot password? instead of guessing. If you do sign in but see an "Access Denied" message, your role doesn't have scanner permissions yet. Ask your GrowerIQ administrator to grant scanner access to your role. For other sign-in trouble, see Troubleshooting the Mobile Scanner. !!! warning "A short pause after a wrong password is normal" A wrong password greys out the Log In button briefly, and the wait grows a little with each further miss (about 1, 2, 5, 10, then 15 seconds). A correct password clears it right away. Use Forgot password? if you're unsure. ๐Ÿข Pick your organization after login If your account is tied to more than one organization, the next screen lists each one with its logo. Tap the organization you want to work in, and you'll land on the home screen. A spinner shows briefly while the app switches you in. If your account belongs to only one organization, the app skips this step and takes you straight to the home screen. ๐Ÿ”„ Switch organizations later You can change organizations without logging out: 1. Open the menu (Settings drawer). 2. Tap Switch Organization. 3. Pick the organization you want from the list again. The Switch Organization button only appears if your account has more than one organization. The same menu has a Log Out button, and the app also signs you out automatically after a few minutes of inactivity to keep your account secure. The Settings drawer is also where you change your language. The scanner supports English, French, Portuguese, and more. For details, see Switching Languages on the Mobile Scanner. ๐ŸŸ  Spotting a test site If the top banner in the Settings drawer is amber (instead of the usual green) and names an environment, you're signed in to a practice or test site, not your live production site. Anything you do there will not affect real records. To get to your live site, tap the organization badge on the login screen and type your live organization name. !!! note "An amber banner means a test site" If the top banner in the Settings drawer is amber and names an environment, you're on a practice or test site, not live production. Your work there won't affect real records. โžก๏ธ Related articles - Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner - Switching Languages on the Mobile Scanner - Troubleshooting the Mobile Scanner - Weighing in Batches - Connecting a Scale for Live Weights - Printing Labels from the Scanner

Switching Languages on the Mobile Scanner

The GrowerIQ Mobile Scanner can show its menus and labels in more than one language, and you can change it yourself in just a couple of taps. Switching is instant, your choice is remembered for next time, and it works the same on any device you run the scanner on, whether that is a phone, a tablet, or a handheld scanner. In this article: - Open the Settings menu - Choose your language - If a language looks greyed out ๐Ÿ“ฑ Open the Settings menu Start on the home screen of the scanner. This is where the language controls live. 1. Tap the menu icon (the three-line, or "hamburger", icon) in the top-left corner of the home screen. 2. The Settings panel slides in from the left side of the screen. 3. Look for the Language section, marked with a small translate icon and the word "Language". It sits partway down the panel, so you may need to scroll a little past the organization name, the facility address, and your own user details to reach it. To close the panel without changing anything, just tap anywhere outside it. !!! note "Set it from the home screen" The menu icon only appears on the home screen. If you are inside another screen and see a back arrow in the top-left instead, tap back until you reach home, then open the menu. ๐ŸŒ Choose your language Each language is shown using its own native name and flag, so French reads Franรงais and Thai reads เน„เธ—เธข. That makes it easy to spot your language even if the app is currently in one you do not read. 1. In the Language section, tap the language you want. 2. The screen updates instantly, right there in your new language. There is no need to close or restart the app. 3. The language you picked stays highlighted (filled in) so you can always see which one is active. Here are a few examples of what the buttons look like and the language each one selects: | Button shows | Language | |--------------|----------| | ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ English | English | | ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Franรงais | French (Quebec) | | ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Portuguรชs | Portuguese | | ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ เน„เธ—เธข | Thai | These are just examples of what you might see. Available languages today include English, French, Portuguese, and more, and the list grows over time as new languages are switched on. !!! tip "Switches instantly" There is no Save button. The change applies the moment you tap a language. !!! info "Your choice is remembered" The scanner saves your language on that device, so it stays in your language the next time you open the app. You only set it once per device. !!! note "Each device is separate" Language is set per device. Switching the language on one handheld does not change it on another, so set it on each device you use. ๐Ÿšซ If a language looks greyed out Some languages may appear dimmed and cannot be tapped. That simply means the language is listed but not switched on yet, because it is still being prepared. This is expected, and nothing is broken. The dimmed languages do not affect the ones you can already use, and a greyed-out language will become tappable on its own once it is ready. !!! warning "Greyed-out languages are not ready yet" A dimmed language is listed but not yet switched on. It will become tappable once it is available. This is expected and does not mean anything is wrong with your scanner. New to the scanner? See Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner to set up your device, and Logging In and Choosing Your Organization for your first sign-in. โžก๏ธ Related articles - Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner - Logging In and Choosing Your Organization - Troubleshooting the Mobile Scanner - Weighing in Batches - Connecting a Scale for Live Weights - Printing Labels from the Scanner

Troubleshooting the Mobile Scanner

The GrowerIQ Mobile Scanner runs on any Android phone, tablet, or Zebra handheld, and it automatically detects whether to use the camera or the built-in trigger, so you never have to set that up. This article answers the most common scanner problems and shows you how to fix them yourself. If you are setting up the scanner for the first time, see Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner and Logging In and Choosing Your Organization. In this article: - ๐Ÿ“ท My scans are not registering - ๐Ÿ“ธ The camera will not open - ๐Ÿ”‘ I cannot log in - ๐Ÿšซ I see an Access Denied or No Access screen - โš–๏ธ Live scale weight is not appearing - โฌ‡๏ธ The app will not install or update - ๐Ÿ’ฌ Still stuck? Administrators: for how to grant a role scanner access, see Set Up Scanner Access for a Role. ๐Ÿ“ท My scans are not registering The scanner works in one of two ways, and it picks the right one for your device automatically. | Device | How it scans | |---|---| | Phone or tablet (camera device) | Uses the camera to read the barcode | | Zebra handheld | Uses the built-in hardware trigger | On a phone or tablet (camera): 1. Make sure you are on a screen that is asking for a scan. 2. Allow camera access if the app asks. 3. Hold the device steady and centre the barcode inside the on-screen bracket. 4. Improve the lighting, or tap the flashlight (torch) toggle on the viewfinder. 5. Wait a moment between scans. The app ignores the same code if it is read twice in quick succession. On a Zebra handheld: 1. Make sure you are on a screen that accepts scans. 2. Pull the hardware trigger. 3. Aim the red light squarely at the barcode. The device gives a short vibration every time it reads a code, so you feel that a scan happened, but always check the screen to confirm the result, because a failed or unrecognised scan also vibrates (with a different buzz). There are two different things that can go wrong: - The barcode will not read at all. This is usually lighting, a shaky hand, or being on the wrong screen. Steady the device, add light, and confirm the screen is asking for a scan. - The barcode reads, but the app says it does not recognise the code or cannot find that item. Make sure you are scanning a genuine GrowerIQ label, and confirm you logged into the correct organization. An item that exists in another organization will not be found in this one. !!! tip "Camera tips" Better light, a steady hand, and the on-screen flashlight (torch) toggle fix most camera scan failures. Keep the barcode inside the corner bracket and you only need to hold it for a moment. ๐Ÿ“ธ The camera will not open Camera devices (phones and tablets) need your permission to use the camera before they can scan. In-app fix: when you see Camera Permission Required, tap Allow Camera and accept the system prompt that appears. If you previously tapped Deny: the app can no longer ask you again from inside the app. Open your device Settings, find the GrowerIQ Scanner app, turn the Camera permission on, then return to the app. The exact menu names vary a little between Android devices, but you are looking for the app's permissions. Zebra handhelds scan with the hardware trigger and do not need camera permission to scan, so this issue only affects phones and tablets. ๐Ÿ”‘ I cannot log in There are two common reasons a login does not go through. 1. Wrong email or password. The app shows Invalid email or password. Re-check three things: the organization shown on the badge at the top of the login screen, your email address, and your password. If you cannot remember your password, tap the Forgot password? link. It keeps your email and selected organization, so you land on the right reset screen. 2. A short pause after several wrong tries. To protect your account, the app deliberately pauses logins for a few seconds after repeated failed attempts. The wait grows a little each time, up to about 15 seconds, and the login button is greyed out during the pause. Just wait a moment and try again. The server may also return one of these messages: | Message | What it means | |---|---| | Too many login attempts. Please try again later. | The server is rate-limiting your logins. Wait a little while, then try again. | | Your account has been blocked. Contact support. | Your account is blocked. Contact your GrowerIQ administrator or GrowerIQ support to have it reviewed. | !!! note "Locked out for a few seconds" After several wrong passwords the app pauses login for a short, growing wait (up to about 15 seconds) and greys out the button. This is normal protection. Wait a moment and try again, or use Forgot password?. ๐Ÿšซ I see an Access Denied or No Access screen If you log in successfully but then land on an Access Denied screen, nothing is broken. It means your user role does not have scanner permission for the item you tried to scan. Access is tied to your role, and it can be specific: a role might be allowed some inventory types or actions but not others. There is nothing to fix on the device, and reinstalling will not help. A GrowerIQ administrator needs to grant scanner access to your role in the web app. After that, log out of the scanner and log back in, because permissions reload when you log in. One more thing to check first: if you only see Access Denied occasionally, or right after a patchy connection, log out and back in on a stable network. If it happens every single time, it is a role-permission setting your administrator must change. !!! warning "Access Denied is a permissions setting" Access Denied after login means your role lacks scanner access for that item. Reinstalling will not fix it. Ask a GrowerIQ administrator to grant your role scanner access, then log out and back in. !!! info "Zebra badge login" On a Zebra handheld you can scan your badge to fill in your email, then just type your password. This shortcut uses the handheld's built-in scanner, so it is not available on phones or tablets. โš–๏ธ Live scale weight is not appearing The scanner can pull live weights straight from a networked scale, so weight fields fill in automatically as you weigh, including multi-bag batch weighing. This is set up by an administrator in Administration > Equipment using the scale's network address. If a weight field is not auto-filling: 1. Confirm the scale is powered on. 2. Confirm the scale and the scanner device are on the same network. 3. Ask your administrator to check the scale's address in Administration > Equipment. For full setup details, see Connecting a Scale for Live Weights. โฌ‡๏ธ The app will not install or update There is no app store for the Mobile Scanner. You install it by scanning a permanent QR code, or by opening the permanent download link in your device browser. To install or update: 1. Re-scan the same permanent QR code, or open the download link in your device browser: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1A4qlczKKPRnOpsLei56YRBSm093pZ-Mc/view 2. Download the app file. 3. Allow the install when your device asks. 4. Open the app. The same QR code and link always install the latest version, so to update you simply re-scan and install over the top of what you have. Two common snags: your device must be allowed to install the app (accept the install prompt when it appears), and you need a stable internet connection for the download. ๐Ÿ’ฌ Still stuck? If none of the above solves it, contact your GrowerIQ administrator or GrowerIQ support and describe what you were doing when the problem happened. (There is no need to read or share an app version number.) For first-time setup and sign-in, see Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner and Logging In and Choosing Your Organization. โžก๏ธ Related articles - Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner - Logging In and Choosing Your Organization - Switching Languages on the Mobile Scanner - Weighing in Batches - Connecting a Scale for Live Weights - Printing Labels from the Scanner

Weighing in Batches

When one batch is split across several bags or containers, the GrowerIQ Mobile Scanner can weigh each one and add them up for you. The Weigh Multiple screen sums every entry into a single total, then drops that total straight into the weight field. In this article: - When you would use it - Opening the multi-weight screen - Adding weights by hand - Adding from a connected scale - Reading the running total and entry count - The exceeds available quantity warning - Bringing the total back with Use Total - Good to know ๐Ÿงณ When you would use it Sometimes a single batch is physically split across several bags, totes, or containers. Instead of weighing each one separately and adding the numbers up on paper, you weigh each container, the scanner sums them, and you record one accurate total against the batch. This is a convenience built into the mobile scanner, so you do the math less and get back to work faster. ๐Ÿ“ฑ Opening the multi-weight screen From the action where you record a weight, tap the Weigh Multiple button next to the weight field. The full-screen Weigh Multiple page opens with: - One empty weight row, ready for your first entry. - A batch info card at the top showing the batch name, the inventory ID, the available quantity, and the unit (when the action passes those in). You will only see the batch info card details that the action provides. If an available quantity is not passed in, that line simply will not appear. โœ๏ธ Adding weights by hand Type each container's weight into its numbered row, then add more rows as you go. - Tap + Add Row to add another blank row. - Each row has a grey numbered badge (1, 2, 3...) on the left and a red close-circle remove button on the right. - The unit shown beside each row is the same unit the weight field uses. - You can remove any extra row, but the screen always keeps at least one row. The remove button is greyed out when only one row is left. Blank rows, or rows with a zero, are simply ignored. They do not count toward the entry total or the entry count, so there is no harm in leaving an extra empty row at the bottom. โš–๏ธ Adding from a connected scale If a scale is connected and sending a live reading, an extra section appears below the rows. It shows the live weight and an Add button. 1. Place a bag or container on the scale. 2. Wait for the live reading to settle. 3. Tap Add. That reading drops in as a new row. 4. Repeat for each container. This section only appears while a scale is connected and reading. !!! tip "No scale connected?" Just type each weight by hand as described above. To set up a scale so readings drop in automatically, see Connecting a Scale for Live Weights. ๐Ÿงฎ Reading the running total and entry count A total bar sits above the rows and updates the moment you type a weight or add a row. The left side shows how many entries you have so far, and the right side shows the running total. Here is what each piece means: | On screen | What it means | |-----------|---------------| | "3 entries" (or "1 entry") | How many rows currently hold a weight greater than zero. Blank and zero rows are not counted. | | "Total: ..." | The sum of every entry, shown to two decimal places, in your weighing unit. | | Summary card | Once you have at least one valid entry, a card restates the entry count and the total so you can double-check before saving. | The count and total only reflect real weights, so an empty row at the bottom never throws the numbers off. โš ๏ธ The exceeds available quantity warning If the batch passed in an available quantity and your running total goes past it, a red banner appears reading "Total exceeds available quantity" followed by the available figure. That figure is shown in the batch's available unit, which is usually the same as the unit you are weighing in. !!! warning "Exceeding the available quantity" This is a heads-up, not a stop sign. You can still tap Use Total. Treat the banner as a prompt to re-check your container weights, or to confirm you are working with the right batch, before you record the total. โœ… Bringing the total back with Use Total When you are happy with the numbers, tap Use Total. The screen closes and the summed weight, rounded to two decimal places, drops into the weight field on the action you came from. - Use Total stays greyed out until the total is above zero, so you cannot return an empty total. - Tapping Cancel returns you with no changes to the weight field. - If the weight field was in live auto-fill mode when you opened Weigh Multiple, the scanner switches it back to manual mode for you. There is nothing to toggle yourself. ๐Ÿ’ก Good to know - If you do not see the Weigh Multiple button, or you get "Access Denied", your role does not have scanner permissions yet. Ask a GrowerIQ administrator to grant scanner access to your role. - New to the scanner? Printing Labels from the Scanner

The GrowerIQ Mobile Scanner can print a label for any item you scan, sending it straight to a connected Zebra printer. You never design a label on the device. The label templates themselves are built in the web app using the AI Label Builder, and they show up here ready to pick. In this article: - ๐Ÿš€ Two ways to start a print - ๐Ÿท๏ธ Choose a label template - ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ Choose a printer - ๐Ÿ”ข Set copies and numbering - โœ… Confirm and print - ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ If something goes wrong ๐Ÿš€ Two ways to start a print There are two easy ways to reach the Print Label screen. 1. From a scanned item. Scan an item, open its list of actions, and choose Print Label. This action is available on scanned items across the board: batches, lots, mothers, vessels, package runs, received inventory, samples, and even locations and user badges. 2. Right after another action. When you finish certain actions (such as splitting a batch, taking a sample, starting processing, creating mothers, or queuing for destruction), a success dialog pops up and asks "Would you like to print a label?" with two buttons: Skip and Print Label. Tap Print Label to jump straight into printing for the item you just created. Both routes open the same Print Label screen, which shows the item's name and ID in a card at the top so you always know what you are labelling. !!! tip "Print right after an action" When you split a batch, take a sample, or create mothers, the success dialog offers a Print Label button. Tap it to print the new item's label immediately instead of scanning the item again. If the Print Label action on a scanned item looks greyed out, your role does not have permission to print labels. A GrowerIQ administrator can grant that access to your role. ๐Ÿท๏ธ Choose a label template The first card on the screen is Select Label Template. It lists the templates available to your organization. Tap one to select it. Each row shows the template name, with its size, format, and type in small uppercase text underneath. Templates marked AI Generated come from the AI Label Builder in the web app. | In the list you'll see | What it means | |---|---| | Template name | The label's name, used as the row title | | Size, format, type | A quick summary line under the name (small uppercase text) | | AI Generated tag | This template was designed in the AI Label Builder | If the card reads No label templates available, no templates have been built yet. Build them in the web app under Administration > AI Label Builder, and they will appear here. ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ Choose a printer The next card is Select Printer. This list is your organization's configured printers, set up by an administrator under Administration > Equipment. Tap a printer to select it. Each printer row shows its name, along with its IP address and location. | What you might see | What it means | |---|---| | Printer name + IP + location | Ready to use, tap to select | | NO IP CONFIGURED | Missing its network address, cannot print yet | | No printers configured | No printers have been added yet | A printer showing NO IP CONFIGURED is missing the network address it needs to receive labels. It cannot print until an administrator adds the IP. !!! warning "'NO IP CONFIGURED' printers cannot print" A printer showing NO IP CONFIGURED has no network address. A GrowerIQ administrator needs to add the printer's IP under Administration > Equipment before you can use it. ๐Ÿ”ข Set copies and numbering The last card is Print Options. This is where you choose how many labels to print and whether to number them. Use the Number of Labels stepper to set how many copies you want. Turn on Number labels (1 of X) if you want each label numbered in sequence. When you switch it on, two more fields appear, plus a live preview that shows exactly how the labels will be numbered before you print. | Option | What it does | |---|---| | Number of Labels | How many copies to print (default is 1) | | Starting # | The first number in the sequence (when numbering is on) | | Out of | The total the labels count toward, shown with a slash in the preview, e.g. "1/10" | Keep an eye on the "Labels will print as:" preview to confirm the numbering looks right before you send. โœ… Confirm and print The Print Label button at the bottom stays greyed out until you have selected both a label template and a printer. Once both are chosen, the button turns on. !!! note "The button stays grey until you pick both" The Print Label button only activates once you have selected a label template AND a printer. If it looks disabled, check that both cards have a selection. Tap Print Label to send. The app checks the printer first, then prepares your chosen template and sends the finished label over your network to the Zebra printer. While it works, the button shows a loading state. - Print Sent. You see a confirmation reading "Label sent to [your printer name]" and the app returns to the previous screen when you tap OK. - Print Job Sent / Unable to confirm delivery. The label was sent, but the printer did not send a confirmation back. This is normal on some networks. The app still returns to the previous screen. Just glance at the printer to confirm it printed. !!! info "'Unable to confirm delivery' is usually fine" On some networks the printer accepts the label but does not send a confirmation back. The label was still sent. Just check the printer to confirm it printed. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ If something goes wrong A few quick fixes for the most common hiccups: | What you see | What to do | |---|---| | Print Label action greyed out on a scanned item | Your role lacks permission to print labels. A GrowerIQ administrator can grant it. | | Printer Error when you try to print | The selected printer has no IP or an invalid one. An administrator fixes this under Administration > Equipment. | | No label templates available | None are built yet. Create them in the AI Label Builder (web app, under Administration). | | No printers configured | None have been added yet. An administrator adds them under Equipment. | | An inline error card with a Dismiss button | Something else went wrong while sending. Re-check the printer's network and power, then try again. | For app basics like installing, logging in, and scanning, see Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner. โžก๏ธ Related articles - AI Label Builder: Overview & Getting Started - Print a Label from the Web App - Print Plant Tags (Loop Labels) - Set Up a Printer & Fix Printing Problems - Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner - Logging In and Choosing Your Organization - Switching Languages on the Mobile Scanner - Troubleshooting the Mobile Scanner - Weighing in Batches - Connecting a Scale for Live Weights

Set Up Scanner Access for a Role

When someone signs in to the Mobile Scanner and hits an "Access Denied" screen, it means their user role has not been granted scanner access yet. This is an administrator task. This guide shows you how to grant a role the scanner views and actions it needs, in the GrowerIQ web app. In this article: - Who this is for - Before you begin - Grant scanner access to a role - What the user sees - Tips ๐ŸŽฏ Who this is for This is for administrators who manage user roles in GrowerIQ. Scanner users cannot grant their own access. If a team member reports an "Access Denied" message on the scanner, you (or another administrator) set their role's scanner permissions here. !!! note "Scanner and web permissions are separate" A role's Mobile Scanner permissions are independent of its Web Permissions. Giving a role web access does not give it scanner access, and changing one never changes the other. You set scanner access on its own tab. โœ… Before you begin - You need administrator access to Administration > User Roles. - Decide which inventory types the role should be able to open on the scanner, and which actions it should be able to perform. !!! warning "New roles start with no scanner access" A newly created role has no scanner access until you grant it. Until you select view types and actions, anyone with that role will be blocked on the scanner. (The Admin role is the exception: it always has full scanner access and cannot be edited.) ๐Ÿ“ Grant scanner access to a role 1. Go to Administration > User Roles. 2. Click Edit Roles. 3. Find the role you want to update and expand it. 4. Open the Mobile Scanner tab (it sits next to Web Permissions). 5. Under View Types, choose which data types this role can open when scanning - for example Batch, Lot, Mother, Mother Batch, Package Run, or Destruction. If a type is not selected, users with this role are blocked from opening that item on the scanner. Use Select All or Deselect All to set them quickly. 6. Under Actions, choose which action buttons appear in the scanner for this role. Actions are grouped by category (such as Measurement or Lab). Anything you leave unselected is hidden from the scanner's action menu - for example, you can let a role record weights but not advance stages. 7. Check the Selected View Types and Selected Actions panels on the right to confirm what the role will get. 8. Click Save Roles. !!! tip "Grant only what the role needs" Use view types and actions to give each role the least access it needs to do its job - for example, allow line workers to record weights and move locations, but keep destruction queueing or sensitive views limited to supervisors. ๐Ÿ”Ž What the user sees After you save, the user must log out and back in on the scanner, because scanner permissions reload at login. - If a role is missing a view type, the user can log in but sees an "Access Denied" screen when they scan that kind of item. - If a role is missing an action, that action button simply does not appear on the item's screen. Grant the missing view type or action, have the user sign in again, and the item or action becomes available. ๐Ÿ’ก Tips - Start from a similar role. Use Duplicate on an existing role to copy its setup, then adjust the scanner tab. - Web and scanner are independent. If a role can do something on the web but not the scanner (or the reverse), check the matching tab. - Test with one user first before rolling a new role out to a whole team. โžก๏ธ Related articles - Troubleshooting the Mobile Scanner - Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner - Logging In and Choosing Your Organization

Receiving Inventory from the Scanner

The GrowerIQ Mobile Scanner can receive new inventory into your site right from the warehouse floor, no computer required. Unlike most scanner actions, you do not scan a barcode to start. You tap Receive Inventory on the home screen and fill out the form. In this article: - When you would use it - Before you begin - Receiving inventory step by step - What happens next - Good to know ๐Ÿ“ฆ When you would use it A delivery arrives and you want it logged in GrowerIQ on the spot, while you are still standing at the receiving dock. Instead of writing it down and entering it later at a desk, you receive it straight from the scanner. This is the same receiving you already do on the web, brought to the scanner so the person handling the shipment can record it as it lands. โœ… Before you begin - Your role needs the Receive Inventory scanner action. This is off by default, so an administrator has to grant it. - The scanner must be online. Receiving is not available offline. !!! warning "You need the Receive Inventory permission" The Receive Inventory button only appears for roles that have been granted the scanner receive action. If you do not see it on the home screen, ask an administrator to enable it. See Set Up Scanner Access for a Role. !!! note "Online only" The scanner sends the receipt to your site as you submit it, so you need a connection. There is no offline queue for receiving. ๐Ÿ“ Receiving inventory step by step 1. On the scanner home screen, tap Receive Inventory (just below the scan button). 2. Fill out the form: | Field | What to enter | |-------|---------------| | Variety | The product's variety and strain, from the varieties set up on your site. | | Product Type | The product (end) type. Tap to open a searchable dropdown that lists every product type enabled on your site, then pick one. | | Package Type | Packaged or Unpackaged. | | Quantity / Weight | The amount received. Use Connect Scale to read from a networked scale, or Weigh Multiple to weigh several containers and add them up. | | Total Cost | The total cost of the inventory. | | Timestamp | When the inventory was received (defaults to now). | | Vendor | The supplier, from your CRM supplier accounts. | | Source Lot Number | The supplier's lot number. Required, for your reference. | | Purchase Order # | Your PO number. Required, for your reference. | | Location | Where the inventory is being stored. | | Delivery Matches PO? | Yes or No. | | Damage to Shipment? | No or Yes. | | Intended Use | A short description of what the inventory is for. | | Cannabinoid Profile | Optional. THC % and CBD %. | | Weighed By / Checked By | The people who weighed and checked the delivery. | 3. Tap Receive Inventory at the bottom to submit. !!! tip "Finding the right product type fast" The Product Type dropdown can be long. Start typing in its search box to filter the list down to what you are looking for. !!! note "Weighing across several containers" When one delivery is split across bags or totes, use Weigh Multiple to weigh each one and have the scanner add them into a single total. See Weighing in Batches. ๐Ÿ”„ What happens next Inventory received from the scanner is added to your site in the unapproved state. The scanner does not have an approval step, by design, so a Quality Assurance user reviews and approves the receipt afterwards in the web app. !!! note "Approval happens on the web" Go to Warehouse > Received Inventory in the web app to find the receipt and approve it. Most management actions only become available once it is approved. See Working With Received Inventory. ๐Ÿ’ก Good to know - No barcode needed. Receiving is the one scanner action you start from a button, not by scanning. - Imperial or metric. The weight field follows your organization's unit setting. - Networked scales work here. Connect a scale to capture weights without typing them. - Cannabinoid profile is optional. Leave THC % and CBD % blank if you do not have them yet. โžก๏ธ Related articles - Set Up Scanner Access for a Role - Working With Received Inventory - Weighing in Batches - Getting Started with the Mobile Scanner
